Marnie lost 101lbs
Marnie’s Testimonial
Real-life stories and experiences from our Munro Method Graduates1 – Tell me about your previous dieting attempts
My first ever diet was at age 22 after having my twins. I joined Slimming World and lost 3 stones. Unfortunately, I never learned anything about Nutrition, and within a year, I had piled the 3 stones back on. Over the next 9 years, despite joining Slimming World around 5 times each year, I ended up adding about another 5 stone in weight. I also tried various other diets like Herbalife and Cambridge during this time. I even tried going vegan. I also signed up with a few online and in-person personal trainers. I’d lose a few lbs but could never stick to them for any longer than a few weeks as they were very restrictive, and ultimately I’d end up back where I started.2 – What was it you hoped Munro would do for you?
When I joined, I just wanted to lose weight once and for all. I was sick of constantly being on a diet. My weight had started to affect me in other ways; my mental health was poor. I became pretty depressed and anxious about going out. I was always very sociable, but I started dreading nights out because I was so self-conscious about my weight. I wanted to be fitter; I enjoyed climbing hills but really struggled at my pre-Munro weight of 20 stone. I also wanted to be healthy in old age. My family has a history of heart disease, and I didn’t want to end up taking a heart attack as I was only 32. I joined from the hospital; my nephew was going through open-heart surgery, which made me realise life is precious and that I had to change mine.3 – How did you hear about Munro?
I came across Munro on Instagram and followed for a while, reading posts and watching videos and stories and liking what I was hearing.4 – What made us stand out from everything else out there?
I liked Jason’s straight-up attitude. There were no false promises or bullshit advertising that you’d lose a stone in a week! I also liked that no foods seemed off-limits and that I could fit them into my life rather than making my life fit around a plan. I have 4 kids and a decent social life (enjoy lunches out with my sister/friends etc.). Normally, you’d have to go #Off-Plan to be able to enjoy yourself.5 – Did anything about our approach almost put you off from joining?
I had tracked calories before and was sceptical that this would be similar, but your approach was so different and much better.6 – What made you bite the bullet and sign up to work with us?
As previously mentioned, I joined from my nephew’s bedside in the hospital. I realised I had to stop putting it off; this was the right option. The price was also a factor as it was very affordable. When I texted my husband to tell him I had joined, he was very supportive. Later (after I’d lost the 100lbs), he admitted he thought this would have just been another fad I had started and not finished (I have wasted a lot of time and money over the years trying to lose weight).7 – What made you happiest about being a Clan member?
I loved being a Clan Munro member! It is such a positive place to be. The support is second to none, from the coaches to the other members. People always have your back and will help you; everyone shares your successes. It is good to have such a big community that knows exactly what you are going through. However, there is also no sugar-coating, and I appreciate that. The daily posts are inspiring, and it’s always the first thing I read in the morning. It sets you up for the day.8 – What have you achieved as a Clan-member?
Apart from losing over 100 lbs (I cannot believe I am writing that) and going from a size 22/20 to a 12/10, I have dramatically changed my entire life. I can’t even explain in words how much this has helped me. My mindset has totally shifted; I understand Nutrition now. I have a good relationship with food now; I can eat out and know how to fit it into my day/week. I don’t feel guilty about saying yes to cake or takeaways, and on the other hand, I also don’t feel guilty when I say no to some things because they don’t align with my goals at that moment in time. My depression has gone, and my anxiety is more or less non-existent. I’ve gone from sleeping all day to walking 15-20 thousand steps daily; I found a love for the gym. I have done events like Tough Mudder and climbed a Munro, ziplined, and just did things I would have been scared to do before. I went from wearing baggy clothes to wearing sports bras and booty shorts. I accept my body and love it for what it has done, and I genuinely have so much confidence now. I am a much more positive, content person now.9 – What has exceeded your expectations since working with us?
I never expected the nutrition side of things to be as in-depth; I never had one single question, as all the starting information and videos were so well put together. Also, the weekly live chats exceeded the level of support I thought you’d get for the price you pay. The main thing that I never expected was the mindset stuff that gets posted in the group. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the daily posts, and they always get me thinking. They have helped me take control of my whole life and not just my Nutrition, as they are easily applied across the board.10 – Why would you recommend us to others?
You will never feel restricted if you can lose weight and still have a life—such freedom around food. You’ll lose your obsession with the scale because you understand your body and why it fluctuates, and you will stop pinning your worth on what it says. That the knowledge you will gain you won’t find anywhere else (and if you do, you’d probably be paying a hefty fee for one-to-one coaching). It will do so much more than help you change your physical appearance. You’ll never need to diet again after this, the support you will get is amazing, and you’ll find some friends for life as part of the Clan.11 – Was there anything about Munro that surprised you the most?
I didn’t think there would be as much information, and I didn’t expect the level of support you get.
I never expected the mindset stuff, the challenges, and all the prizes I’ve won. The level of generosity from referring members, etc. is incredible too.
12 – What would you tell someone thinking about joining us?
Just do it!! You won’t regret it; I wish I could show you how good you will feel in 6 months. It’s life-changing. If I can lose 100 lbs, anyone can do it. It’s not too difficult; you can fit it into your life with your job, kids, etc. You can eat convenience foods, and you don’t have to be the best cook or spend hours in the kitchen every day. Most of my meals take less than 20 mins to make, and I enjoy the odd meal deal when I can’t be bothered.
13 – Could we do anything differently to improve for future members?
The group is even more impressive now than when I joined; there is so much helpful information and resources for everyone, and the groups are very easy to navigate.
I’ve never seen or even heard of anyone or anything else doing what you do the way you do it.
It is hard to explain precisely what you do in the group, but you massively undersell yourself in your marketing.
14 – How confident are you that you can now take everything you’ve learned with us and maintain what you’ve achieved?
100% confident. I am a nutritional ninja now. I totally understand calories, energy balance, diet quality and which foods will fill me up and which won’t.
I also know that if I ever gained a few lbs on holiday or Xmas, etc., it’s perfectly normal, and if I ever feel I need to lose a few pounds, I could do so with ease using what I now know.
15 – Is there anything else you want to say about us or your time with us?
You are amazing and thank you so much for changing my life. It has improved my relationship with my partner and kids. You have given me the confidence I’ve never had and the belief to believe in myself. I will never be able to convey how much it has turned my life around. I know that sounds cheesy, but it is true.
Keep doing what you do!
